This three days course are based on the most modern knowledge about formation and structure of the basins. The course will demonstrate the hydrocarbon deposits origin theories and the evolution of the origin theories for some sedimentary basins. The course is a comprehensive overview of the present-day knowledge about the sedimentary basins structure and formation.
o Continental sedimentary basins around the world:
o What do we know?
o Where do we have oil and gas?
o Tectonic evolution and crustal structure
o The West Siberian basin and the oil and gas rich basins of theEast Siberia
o Thermal structure of the sedimentary basins around the world
o Structure and geological history: an integrated interpretation of gravity, magnetic and reflection seismic data
o Offshore sedimentary basins
o Arctic offshore sedimentary basins
Yulia is a geologist and mining specialist with over 10 years of technical, scientific research and business development experience in leading international mining and oil/gas service and consulting companies. Having started out as a diamond exploration geologist (Russia), Yulia subsequently worked in seismic exploration in Schlumberger (Egypt) in its quality control department, and in academia where she was awarded a PhD degree in geoscience (Denmark), and in a prominent mining consultancy (UK) providing international business development, project appraisals, quality control and technical due diligence to clients. Yulia defended the PhD and published the scientific articles on the crustal structure of the West Siberian basin and the Siberian craton. Yulia is knowledgeable about quality control, exploration, technical risks and pitfalls of complex mining projects.
The course is designed for the new venture exploration geologists and research geoscientists.
The learning objective of the top-most level content of the course are:
o To understand the modern-day knowledge level about the continental sedimentary basins.
o To compare the level of knowledge for different regions around the world.
o To benchmark the level of knowledge and potential of the oil and gas rich basins including Arctic basins.
o To compare the thermal structure of the basins and to correlate it with the oil and gas resources.
