COURSE OVERVIEW

The primary focus for the course is to provide the attendees with knowledge and experience related to rock properties critical to a reservoir’s performance. Attendees will also gain knowledge necessary to derive gas reservoir fluid property values by applying real gas law equations, based on the reservoir gas composition. The fundamental assumptions in the fluid flow equations for single-phase liquid and gas is also very necessary. Knowing how to define and use well test data to describe the long-term capability of wells to produce as reservoir conditions change is also of keen importance. Attendees will also be taught how to determine the rock, fluid, operational and reservoir geometric factors affecting water influx into the reservoir. Knowledge of calculation, plotting and analysis of fractional flow curve for average change in water saturation behind a flood front will also be gained. The skill of analysing production and injection data to monitor voidage replacement in fluid  displacement processes is also a priority. This course also considers how to define all of the relevant parameters involved in designing a plan for the development of an oil or gas reservoirs.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Aggrey N. Wilberforce

Dr. Aggrey N. Wilberforce is a senior lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana and Heriot- Watt, Scotland with over 10 years of reservoir engineering and reservoir management, drilling fluids and flow assurance experience. He has been involved in several research works on fields in Ghana including Jubilee and TEN and taught several courses covering reservoir engineering, evaluation and management.

He has also taught courses in drilling engineering where he contributes to the drilling fluids and engineering aspect. Aggrey is involved in the studies of bio-surfactants interaction with reservoir fluids which has wide application including enhanced oil recovery, reservoir scale management and drilling fluid design. He has attended several CPD programmes and has interest in Petroleum Economics, Petroleum Business and Reliability Engineering.
